Funding

The purchase of 789 hectare Tiroran Community Forest on behalf of the communities of South West Mull and Iona was made possible by the National Forest Land Scheme, with a capital grant from the Scottish Land Fund and loan funding from Social Investment Scotland. At the time of purchase, we also received grants towards revenue costs and technical support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Scottish Land Fund and Scottish Forestry.

Project funding from the European agricultural fund for rural development, through Leader, enabled us to appoint a full time Community Forester in March 2019 to manage the forest and oversee developments in key areas: recreation and access, community engagement, income generation and sustainable forestry.
