Our Objectives for Tiroran Community Forest are:
To consult and engage with our neighbours in Tiroran and the wider communities of South West Mull and Iona in the development of the forest for the benefit of all.
To adopt forest management techniques – harvesting, planting and deer management - that achieve a financially and environmentally sustainable woodland.
To explore opportunities for new woodland-based businesses; for example: timber processing, woodland crofts, green tourism and renewable energy.
To improve access, recreation, education and wellbeing uses of the forest for the local community and visitors; for example, walking and cycling trails, fun activities for children, interpretation of wildlife and history, education facilities, arts and crafts.
To maintain and enhance the biodiversity of the forest, protecting its wildlife and sustaining a balanced and dynamic ecosystem.
