Wild Spaces : Reimagining our places
A Community Call-Out for Creative Events Across South West Mull and Iona
Have a brilliant idea for an event that could bring our community spaces to life in new and unexpected ways?
Whether it’s seaweed drying workshops at Bendoran, tree bathing sessions in Tiroran Community Forest, or even soft play Sundays at the Columba Centre, we want to hear from you!
What about leading a forest concert, turning the community garden into a choir hub, or exploring the archaeological wonders of Tiroran through a guided walk or storytelling event? Could you share your knowledge on the healing power of seaweed or host a yoga class with a view?
We’re looking for creative, community-led event ideas that help us explore and reimagine how we inhabit and enjoy our shared spaces these should be based at:

Tiroran Community Forest

Bendoran Seashore Base

The Community Garden

And on Iona
These events will form a new programme running throughout the year, with all activities to be completed by March 2025.
How it works:

You dream it. Submit your event idea – big or small.

The community votes. We’ll shortlist ideas and put them to a public vote.

We support you. SWMID will help with marketing, bookings, health and safety, and general logistics.

You inspire.
Budget & Sustainability:
We expect event budgets to be around £300 per event, but we’re open to ideas with larger or smaller budgets—just tell us what you need and why.
We encourage you to include payment for your time in organising and delivering your event.
All events will charge a small ticket price for participants, which will be ringfenced and used to support future community-led events, helping to build a self-sustaining model for programming that lasts beyond this round of funding.
And you won’t be doing it alone.
All selected event hosts will be invited to gather every two months with fellow organisers to share ideas, materials, support, and inspiration. These informal meetups are designed to help your event run smoothly and to foster a strong creative network across our communities.
