We are seeking an Engagement Officer to join SWMID at an exciting time with the establishment of new working groups and a community led events programme both funded by the National Lottery.
Engagement Officer

20 hours per week · £15.00 per hour · Initial 12-month contract
Based mainly at the Columba Centre, with occasional work across other SWMID sites
South West Mull and Iona Development (SWMID) is seeking a proactive and well-organised Engagement Officer to support our community-focused activities and internal operations.
This varied role supports communications, events, and organisational coordination, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Key Areas of Focus:
Wild Spaces: Community Events Programme
Support the delivery of SWMID’s Wild Spaces programme, helping community members to plan, promote and deliver creative and community-led events
Coordinate logistics, liaise with partners, and support on-the-day delivery
Provide support to community members to set up their own events and administer small grant pots.
Board and Working Group Administration
Provide administrative support to the SWMID Board and Working Groups
Prepare agendas, take minutes, and coordinate meeting logistics (including some evening/out-of-hours meetings)
Forest Administration (training provided)
Assist with record-keeping, licensing paperwork, and managing sawmill orders and stock records
Support the forest team with admin tasks to ensure smooth operations
Communications and Social Media
Manage day-to-day social media and assist with website updates
Create content and share updates about SWMID’s work across platforms
Support community engagement through newsletters and other outreach
Ideal Candidate:
Highly organised with strong communication and IT skills
Comfortable managing multiple priorities across admin, events and communications
Confident in engaging with the community and supporting internal governance
Previous admin experience desirable, but full training provided where needed
