Bendoran

Bendoran was once a thriving boatyard and known as one of the most sheltered anchorages on the West Coast of Scotland. In October 2019, with the support of the Scottish Land Fund, SWMID purchased the 2 acre shoreside site on behalf of the local community.

Although in need of substantial redevelopment, SWMID has a long-term vision for the site to become a multi-use resource offering opportunities for employment, training, facilities for local people and an exciting addition to the local tourism offer.

DEVELOPMENTS

DEVELOPMENTS

We will soon be starting work on basic site improvements, thanks to a grant from the Islands Green Recovery Fund. This includes the demolition of a derelict building, the creation of parking spaces, resurfacing of the track, hard standing for boats, re-concreting of the slipway, construction of a storage shed and the creation of three terraces for future developments.
