In July 2019, Woodland Tribe, a charity that promotes adventurous play, spent three days in the forest working with local and visiting children to build a fantastic playground. Woodland Tribe supported the children to design and construct the playground themselves, using proper tools. The event was a great success and we are lucky to now have an exciting play space that we hope can be used for years to come.

Woodland Tribe usually builds temporary playgrounds, for example at festivals, but ours was built to last longer.

While their team are highly experienced and took great care with construction, its non-standardised equipment and surfaces need a few modifications to satisfy health and safety requirements for unsupervised playgrounds.

The children who built the playground are very proud of their achievement and it has fostered a sense of ownership in their forest, so SWMID would love to be able to keep it open.

At the moment we are raising funds to enable the playground to be ready to go again by the Spring of 2020.

Thank you to the National Lotteries Awards for All for funding Woodland Tribe to come to the forest and to our sponsors, Suidhe Farm Cottages, for helping us to keep the playground open.
