Fèis Mhuile 2017

Fèis is the Gaelic word for festival or feast and Fèis Mhuile 2017 was indeed a feast of traditional music, dancing, Gaelic language and community.

There were classes for children aged 3 and upwards and we were delighted to see around 50 attending from all over Mull and Iona.

There was also a separate programme for adults this year, including a very popular Gaelic singing class.

At the Performer’s Concert: It was great to see what the children had learned in such a short time and how much they were enjoying themselves.

We were lucky to have an excellent group of tutors from Mull and further afield. They provided fantastic support to the children as well as superb entertainment to the many who attended the Tutors’ Ceilidh on the Friday night and the Fèis Dance on the Saturday.

Fèis Mhuile was revived in Bunessan in 2015, with the support of SWMID, in response to the priorities identified in the Ross of Mull and Iona community plan. The support from those who have attended classes and the local community has been incredible.

Anyone who is interested in helping to organise the event next year should contact the SWMID office.
